Representatives of Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have informed the Supreme Court they have agreed to a compromise regarding the appointment of the next Shin Bet chief. According to the emerging agreement, the Prime Minister will be able to select and recommend for government approval the appointment of Major General (Res.) David Zini as the next head of the security service - after the completion of the "Qatar-gate" investigation by the Shin Bet and police in a few months. Meanwhile, S' will continue to serve as acting head of the Shin Bet. Last week, Supreme Court justices encouraged the parties to reach an agreement to avoid a situation requiring judicial ruling on the matter.
