Asaf Shmuelevich is the "impersonating officer" who infiltrated command centers at the beginning of the war while pretending to be a captain, recorded secret conversations, gathered classified information and transferred it to unauthorized entities. Shmuelevich appealed to the Supreme Court against the decision to reveal his name, which was made by the Be'er Sheva District Court, and the state requested not to disclose the first letters of the ranks of senior officers involved in the case, including lieutenant colonels and a general. The appeal hearing was held before Judge Gila Canfi-Steinitz, who rejected the request by Shmuelevich's defense attorneys to keep his name confidential.
