The Northern District Attorney's Office filed an indictment against a 23-year-old resident of Wadi Hamam in the Lower Galilee, who attempted to extort 200,000 shekels in protection fees from a lawyer. The investigation began after the victim complained that he received a phone call with threats: "You have exactly one week, if you don't pay the 200,000 you can forget about your children and your wife." The investigation revealed that the defendant gave the phone used to make the call to his brother, a disabled wheelchair user, in order to "hide it from the police."
