Case of Gur Kahati's death in Lebanon: Colonel (res.) Yoav Yarom will not face criminal charges

|
The IDF announced the closure of the case regarding the fall of Sergeant Gur Kahati who was killed in an encounter with terrorists in Lebanon alongside Israel researcher Zeev (Zabo) Ehrlich. The military prosecution announced that it had decided to close the case without taking criminal measures against Colonel (res.) Yoav Yarom, who served as Chief of Staff of the Golani Brigade and arrived with Ehrlich to an area in Lebanon considered under IDF control during that period, and they began surveying an ancient fortress near a mosque at a high point on the ridge where they were attacked. The military prosecution did recommend taking command measures against Yarom. The investigation file against another person involved in the incident, who was questioned with warning during the investigation, will also be closed without criminal proceedings. The decision stated that "the evidence showed, among other things, that the patrol at the scene was planned in advance by the commander of the forces in the field and was required for operational purposes."
