Tel Aviv University to Faculty: Avoid Expressing Political Views in Classes

|
Prof. Mark Shtaif, Rector of Tel Aviv University, sent a letter to faculty members demanding they refrain from expressing political views during academic activities. "This applies to classes, official letters, graduation ceremonies, and any forum where the audience is a 'captive audience' that cannot choose whether to be exposed to such content," wrote the Rector. The letter continued: "This does not prevent discussion of controversial topics when they are at the core of the course or lecture, provided the discussion is conducted professionally and in a balanced manner, but calls for controversial policy actions should be avoided."
