The Israeli Internet Association warned that during the weekend, the WhatsApp application was blocked for many Israelis and reported that it reached out "to Meta with an urgent request to assist the many complainants and receive an explanation for the phenomenon, but as of this moment, the reason is still unclear." The association advised users who were blocked not to be tempted by paid offers claiming to help remove the block and that they should submit an appeal following the block notification and contact WhatsApp directly to receive a response. For other application users who were not blocked, the association recommended backing up photos, content and important information stored on WhatsApp and creating alternative communication methods in case they are blocked in the coming days.
