Iran's newly appointed Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei survived an assassination attempt because he stepped out for a walk in his courtyard just before it was struck by missiles, according to a report by Britain's The Telegraph, citing an audio recording it obtained. According to the report, Mojtaba went out 'to do something' moments before the February 28 attack, in which his father was also killed alongside other senior officials of the Islamic Republic. The recording obtained by The Telegraph includes remarks by Mazaher Hosseini, who was responsible for protocol in the elder Khamenei's office, to officials and Revolutionary Guards personnel. According to the report, Hosseini confirms in the recording that Mojtaba is suffering from leg injuries as a result of the strikes.
