Report: US, Iran nearing deal to extend ceasefire by 60 days

|
Mediators believe they are close to an agreement to extend the U.S. ceasefire with Iran by 60 days and to establish a framework for discussions on Tehran's nuclear program, the Financial Times reported. Sources involved in the talks said the deal would include a phased reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, alongside a commitment to discuss the dilution or removal of Iran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium. In return, the U.S. would ease the blockade on Iranian ports, agree to sanctions relief and approve a gradual unfreezing of Tehran's frozen assets abroad.
