The Tel Aviv District Court sentenced senior gynecologist Prof. Menachem Elkayam to 14 years in prison after he was convicted of 10 counts of rape by deception against nine of his patients. The women, the youngest of whom was 23 and the oldest 66 at the time of the offenses, came to him for medical treatment but were sexually assaulted by the doctor they trusted. The prosecution requested at least 17 years in prison. The court ordered him to compensate them. The case was exposed in a Ynet investigation more than four years ago, which published testimonies from over 35 women, and 20 complaints were filed with police.
