An IDF investigation of the October 7 battle at Kibbutz and Zikim Beach reveals that a Navy lookout identified terrorists exploiting a Golani unit's withdrawal to seize their abandoned Savana vehicle and speed toward Kibbutz Zikim. She quickly contacted Zikim's security coordinator by phone, who immediately positioned his well-equipped and armed response team in combat positions around the kibbutz. One of his fighters spotted the approaching Savana and opened fire after seeing a terrorist carrying an RPG launcher. Through these actions, the lookout and response team prevented a deadly infiltration of the kibbutz.
