Attorney General: 'Current Knesset has opened a race to dismantle democratic institutions'

|
Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara said at the Israel Bar Association conference in Eilat that "if in the past we referred to democracies falling in small steps, due to the proximity to the end of the current Knesset's term - a race has opened to dismantle democratic institutions." According to her, "with the passage of the split law (the Attorney General's role) and the Military Advocate General's law, the law enforcement system in the State of Israel will completely change its character." She added a reference to the ultra-Orthodox draft: "The law in Israel is clear - the duty of conscription to the IDF applies to everyone. The burden on those serving is enormous. The Chief of Staff is crying out for soldiers and it's no longer possible to ignore this."
