Petah Tikva mayor: 'Missile carried hundreds of kilograms of explosives - new buildings prevented disaster'

|
Petah Tikva Mayor Rami Greenberg arrived at the impact site and said he had been there since 4 a.m., immediately after the alert and strike were reported. "We evacuated hundreds of residents from four buildings adjacent to the building that took a direct hit and transferred them to a nearby municipal reception center," he told Keshet News. Regarding the unusual nature of the impact, Greenberg noted it was a heavy ballistic missile carrying hundreds of kilograms of explosives, which caused significant damage to the directly hit apartment. However, he emphasized these were new, stable buildings and had they not been so, the incident could have ended with a building collapse.
