Following a message circulated on social media, allegedly in the name of the Interior Ministry, claiming that 'imposters posing as police officers are checking that all residents have valid ID cards and collecting biometric data ahead of an upcoming population census,' the Interior Ministry clarifies that this is fake news: 'Population and Immigration Authority personnel do not contact the public requesting personal information and certainly do not arrive at customers' homes asking to fill out forms with personal details. Did someone contact you proactively asking for personal information? It's fake. If someone arrived at your doorstep requesting identifying information – it's impersonation.'
