U.S. intelligence officials have expressed concerns in internal reports about potential Chinese espionage related to a pending deal to sell dozens of advanced F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia, worth $24 billion. This was reported by official sources to The New York Times. According to the sources, intelligence analysts raised the possibility that China could gain access to F-35 technology through espionage in Saudi Arabia or through its military and security partnership with the kingdom. One official noted that one of the reports deals with Chinese military access to Saudi bases and Riyadh's use of Chinese technology in its communications infrastructure.
