The U.S. State Department condemned the Gaza flotilla and defined it as a "pro-Hamas initiative." Department spokesperson Tammy Pigott stated that the flotilla is "a baseless and unhelpful effort designed to undermine President Trump's peace plan." Pigott noted that the flotilla is organized by the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad, an entity designated in January as a global terrorist organization operating on behalf of Hamas. The U.S. called on its allies to prevent flotilla vessels from accessing ports, refueling and docking, and warned it would take action against those who support this "meaningless political exercise."
