US imposes sanctions on entities in China and Hong Kong for arming Iran

|
The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced an expansion of sanctions against companies and businesspeople linked to Iran's weapons program, as part of efforts to prevent arms proliferation. According to the department's statement, the sanctions list now includes citizens and commercial entities from China, Belarus, the United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong. The entities added to the list are connected to Iran's Center for Innovation and Technological Cooperation and the Export Center of the Defense Ministry in Tehran. 'This step is intended to tighten oversight of international networks that help the Iranian regime circumvent trade restrictions,' the department said.
