The Department of Police Investigations has filed an indictment against a police detective for unlawful assault and obstruction of justice. Another officer is accused of obstruction of justice. According to the indictment, in April 2025, the two defendants were driving in a police vehicle, with the detective at the wheel. At one point, he blocked a vehicle and forced it to stop, believing its occupants had cursed at him. He then pinned the driver to his seat and punched him in the face, after which the officers allegedly filed false reports.
