Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke earlier with the parents of hostages Guy Gilboa Dalal and Alon Ohel, following the joint proof-of-life video released by Hamas. The families stated after the conversation that "anyone who truly wants to bring back the hostages immediately sends out the negotiating team for talks and leverages the agreement to return everyone, and those who don't want to return them issue press statements and send soldiers to battle." After the conversation, Netanyahu's office stated that "no malicious propaganda video will weaken our resolve."
