The heat wave that began over the weekend is expected to intensify in the middle of the week, with decades-old temperature records likely to be broken on Tuesday and Wednesday in inland and eastern areas, according to Meteorological Service director Dr. Amir Givati. Temperatures in the eastern valleys and the Sea of Galilee area are expected to reach 48-49 degrees Celsius, while in the Jordan Valley, the forecast is for 50 to 51 degrees. In Jerusalem and Safed, temperatures are expected to exceed 40 degrees, reaching 41 degrees Celsius. The weather is also expected to bring tropical humidity, and from Monday to Wednesday, there is a chance of thunderstorms and heavy rain in the southern and central Negev, as well as strong wind gusts that could reach up to 100 km/h.
