The Movement for Quality Government is demanding an immediate halt to the appointment of Chief Superintendent Avishai Moalem as city manager of Tiberias. In a letter sent today to the mayor and the Interior Ministry, the movement claims that according to information it has received, the appointments committee did not hold a vote as required to approve the appointment. 'No decision was made regarding the appointment, and therefore it is illegal since it is invalid from the outset,' the letter states. The movement claims that even if a vote took place, there is concern that the committee did not give proper weight to the serious criminal suspicions against Moalem, whose investigation file at the Police Internal Investigations Department was transferred to the prosecution. The movement demands the appointment be frozen and warns of possible legal action.
