Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said in an interview with The National newspaper that "there is no reason for open confrontation between Turkey and Israel. There are still sane and good people in Israel, with wisdom and strategic vision. Not everyone is like Netanyahu and his associates." According to him, "as they approach elections, Netanyahu needs an enemy. After a war against Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran, he needs another enemy and he is trying to do this through Turkey."
