Confrontation at UN between Israel and Syria after Netanyahu's visit to buffer zone: 'Prove you've changed'

|
The UN Security Council convened to discuss the situation in Syria, during which an exchange took place between Israeli Ambassador Danny Danon and Syrian Ambassador Ibrahim al-Albi, following Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the buffer zone. "There is no proof that Syria has turned a new page, and it's impossible to talk about a 'new Syria' when Druze, Christians and Alawites are being slaughtered. Change is proven through actions: stopping the killings, restraining militias and protecting minorities," Danon said. Al-Albi responded: "We have already proven ourselves to Syrians, to the region and to our allies, is Israel doing the same?" Danon replied: "If you want us to believe in your change, show it."
