The IDF Spokesperson announced that following an investigation by the IDF's Missing Persons Unit, it has been determined that Private Arthur Gasner, who fell in battles in the Lachish region in April 1949, is buried in a mass grave in Rehovot alongside two of his platoon comrades, Gabriel Magnaji and Kalman Chapnik. According to the announcement, the search investigation lasted more than five years. Gasner's platoon from Battalion 8 encountered a group of infiltrators, and during the battle, 12 soldiers fell. The investigation included document analysis, witness interviews, ground surveys and archaeological surveys.
