New York Times: Witkoff among top US officials Israel allegedly spied on, per Pentagon reports

|
Following an NBC report that the Pentagon raised the counterintelligence threat level regarding Israel to critical, the New York Times reported that the documents include concerns that Israel has intensified its efforts to eavesdrop on senior American officials, including Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff, as well as the Pentagon's most senior policy adviser Elbridge Colby and one of his top deputies Michael DiMino. American sources told the New York Times that Israel is seeking insights into Trump's strategy and his shifting positions regarding peace talks with Iran. According to the paper, the Pentagon report was drafted after incidents in which American security personnel in Israel detected that surveillance software had been secretly installed on their phones.
