Israel Railways has received approval to operate electric trains in Be'er Sheva starting in March. The implication for passengers: more trains and less waiting time. Train frequency during peak hours will increase from three to four per hour, and travel will be continuous without the need to transfer, including to destinations in the south and southern coastal plain such as Ashdod, Ashkelon and Yavne. The railway company notes that the transition to electric trains is expected to improve reliability, increase capacity and shorten travel times for tens of thousands of passengers daily.
