US imposes sanctions on Iranian funding networks, including organization that kidnapped Tsurkov

|
The United States imposed sanctions against Kataib Hezbollah, the organization that kidnapped, among others, Israeli researcher Elizabeth Tsurkov, as well as against Hezbollah and their funding networks. According to a State Department announcement, the move targets the financing mechanisms of the Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guards, which exploited commercial networks in Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Lebanon to circumvent sanctions and finance terrorism. The administration noted that Kataib Hezbollah has increased the threat to American targets, including planning to attack Jewish institutions in the United States. "We will continue to work to isolate Iran's terror proxies and cut off their financial lifelines," it was stated.
