Election analysis site Decision Desk HQ projects that Democrats will prevail over Republicans in the House elections and gain control of the lower chamber of Congress. So far, according to CNN's vote count update, Democrats lead with 73 seats compared to 33 for Republicans. All 435 House seats are up for election, and therefore one side must win at least 218 seats. Among other developments, two prominent critics of Israel were elected to the House. In New York, Brad Lander won, an ally of Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a Jew who defines himself as a Zionist but accuses Israel of genocide and apartheid. In Colorado, Malat Kyros won, a socialist who calls for halting all arms shipments to Israel, including defensive weapons.
