UN: 'Houthis detained 9 more of our staff members'

Nine additional UN staff members were detained by the Houthis in Yemen, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric reported, adding that since 2021 the Houthis have arbitrarily detained 53 staff members of the organization. In August, the Houthis detained at least 18 UN staff in the capital Sanaa. "The Secretary-General strongly condemns the ongoing arbitrary detentions, as well as the continuing illegal seizure of UN premises and assets in areas under Houthi control," Dujarric said.
