Dozens fired from US emergency agency: 'Deep-state people who tried to cover up failures'

|
U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem fired dozens of employees in the information technology department at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under her ministry, citing "significant cyber failures." A statement from the department said that "during a routine cyber review, the department's Chief Information Officer discovered significant security vulnerabilities that allowed a threatening actor access to FEMA's network." Noem later wrote on X: "Bureaucrats acted to prevent the problem from being solved. These 'deep-state' people were more interested in covering up their failures than in protecting the homeland. That's why I fired them immediately."
