A one-time grant of 3,000 shekels will be transferred to ex-wives of soldiers who served more than 120 days of reserve duty under Order 8. Until now, divorced and separated women were not eligible for dedicated support packages that include benefits and grants. Following administrative work with the National Insurance Institute, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Welfare, the mechanism for transferring funds was completed this week, and eligible women were notified that the grant will be deposited directly into their accounts in the coming days. A few months ago, a petition was submitted by the Reservists' Wives Forum, the Women's Lobby and the legal clinics of Ono Academic College, demanding an end to discrimination against divorced reservists' wives - and providing full and equal support packages, similar to women married to reserve soldiers.
