A military court sentenced terrorist Mohammed Walid Ahmed Said to 45 years in prison for carrying out a shooting attack and attempting to set fire to a bus transporting IDF soldiers near the Bekaot settlement in the Jordan Valley in September 2022. Said was convicted based on his confession to the offense of attempted intentional murder in conspiracy. He was convicted of being involved in planning and executing the attack and that together with his accomplices, he blocked the bus's route, poured flammable liquid on it and fired at it with an M-16 rifle. As a result of the shooting, the bus driver and two soldiers traveling on it were injured. The military court also imposed a fine of 15,000 shekels and compensation to the victims amounting to 700,000 shekels. Proceedings against his three accomplices are still ongoing.
