Associates of Defense Minister Israel Katz responded to President Isaac Herzog's statement opposing the closure of the military radio station. "If the President is fond of radio stations, he should establish one at the President's Residence. Only the Israeli government will make decisions, according to its authority, regarding the closure of Army Radio," they said. Herzog noted earlier that "we must not forget that when voices are silenced, we lose not only a frequency but also dialogue. Of course corrections can be made, but we should not completely eliminate a critical democratic tool that provides us with public broadcasting."
