Lebanese Druze leader meets Syrian president: 'Not interested in international protection'

Lebanese Druze leader Walid Jumblatt met with Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara. Sources told SyriaTV that Jumblatt confirmed his rejection of the request for international protection and separation from Syria under al-Shara's control, but emphasized the need to restrict weapons to the state. He called for establishing a committee to investigate those responsible for events in Sakhnaiya and Jaramana. Jumblatt's party, the Progressive Socialist Party in Lebanon, reported that during the meeting, Jumblatt emphasized the importance of the Druze role in Syrian state institutions and praised Syria's efforts to maintain dialogue with all components of the Syrian people.
