US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee met in Ramallah with Palestinian Authority Deputy Chairman Hussein al-Sheikh and discussed the situation in Gaza and the West Bank. After the visit, al-Sheikh tweeted on X that he discussed with Huckabee "support for efforts to stop the war in the Gaza Strip, the release of hostages and providing urgent aid to the Palestinian people there. We also discussed the current situation in the West Bank, including the suffocating economic and financial crisis and settler violence." This is the first time a senior PA official has met with an ambassador from President Donald Trump's administration, after the previous ambassador David Friedman, who served from 2017 to 2021, was boycotted.
