Shas representatives recommended to President Isaac Herzog that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu be the candidate to form the next government. In the conversation with Herzog, MK Yinon Azulay criticized the opposition and public response to the party's opposition to drafting yeshiva students, saying: 'Suddenly we're no longer parasites, suddenly those politicians are talking about a new discourse. We have never disparaged IDF soldiers. Our hand is always extended, but first the value of Torah scholars must be recognized.'
