Netanyahu and Likud petition High Court against appointment of Central Elections Committee legal advisor

|
Attorney Ilan Bombach petitioned the High Court of Justice on behalf of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Likud party against the appointment of Yifat Siminovsky as legal advisor to the Central Elections Committee. Netanyahu and Likud argue through Bombach, among other things, that Siminovsky "lacks experience in the core areas of election law." This is despite the fact that the chairman of the Central Elections Committee, Supreme Court Justice Noam Solberg, strongly rejected the claims and even leveled sharp criticism at Bombach: "It is appropriate that you study the subject thoroughly before making unfounded claims concerning this person or another. It is also better to approach the committee first, instead of sending it initially to the public eye through the media, and thereby spare unnecessary harm to a person's dignity."
