The IDF conducted an initial investigation into the Khan Yunis incident where four soldiers were killed. According to the investigation, after bombing two buildings deemed of 'low value and unnecessary risk,' the force moved to clear a suspicious finding in a third building defined as 'vital' to the operation. After searching and clearing the first floor, forces advanced to the second floor. Upon identifying a suspicious finding on the second floor, the team commander decided to call EOD specialists. The commander moved all fighters back and remained with his radio operator in the stairwell for cover while calling the bomb disposal team, but then the explosive device detonated.
