IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said in a situation assessment in southern Lebanon that "the goal of disarming Hezbollah is defined as a supreme goal - this is an ongoing goal that existed before the current campaign, and the current campaign will advance it." Regarding the fighting against Hezbollah, he said that "Hezbollah has 1,000 dead and the number will continue to rise, the damage to it will continue to intensify."
