Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar, who will complete his role in the coming days, presented the results of an internal Shin Bet investigation regarding the transfer of funds from Qatar to the Gaza Strip with Israeli government approval. In a response to MK Chili Tropper's inquiry, he revealed that the Shin Bet warned "on numerous occasions" the "decision-makers at the political level" that Qatari funds strengthen Hamas and finance military operations. He wrote: "Over the years, the Shin Bet opposed the transfer of money from Qatar to the Gaza Strip. After the political echelon allowed it, the Shin Bet recommended mechanisms to reduce risk and suggested alternatives for transferring funds."
