The Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court convicted mounted police officer Shai Peretz of assaulting protester Yael Reuveni in April 2023. According to the indictment, during the evacuation of protesters who blocked the Ayalon Highway, the defendant rode toward the complainant, causing his horse to step on her foot. He then repeatedly struck her with the reins. The defendant denied the charges, but after hearing all evidence, the court found him guilty. In concluding the verdict, Judge Eitan Kornhauser stated: 'The line that must be drawn should be sharp and clear - the basic duty of police officers is to respect human rights.'
