The New York Police Department reported that more than 100 people were arrested in Manhattan during protests against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's arrival for the United Nations General Assembly session. The demonstrations were led by pro-Palestinian organizations and the anti-Zionist Jewish group Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), with those arrested including Democratic congressional candidate Drializa Avila Shevalaya and actresses Susan Sarandon, Cynthia Nixon and Hannah Einbinder. Jewish Voice for Peace Executive Director Stefanie Fox stated that 'we are here not only to oppose Netanyahu but to say stop arming Israel and the genocide, we demand an end to impunity and complicity right here.' The protests were held with the support of Councilman Zohran Mamdani.
