The head of the Directorate of Defense Research and Development (MAFAT) at the Ministry of Defense, Brig. Gen. (res.) Danny Gold, said that the first powerful laser interceptor system "Iron Beam" will be delivered to the IDF on December 30. He added at the Defense Tech Summit, in collaboration with the Yuval Ne'eman Workshop for Science, Technology and Security at Tel Aviv University: "We are deeply engaged in developing the next generations of surprises for the next war - in space, in offense and defense." The Director-General of the Ministry of Defense, Maj. Gen. (res.) Amir Baram, added: "The defense industries are deeply working on developing the next generations of breakthrough technology for a future confrontation with Iran."
