Findings from the investigation of the battles at Kibbutz Sufa on October 7 revealed that the IDF failed in its mission to defend the kibbutz and indicated that the emergency response team prevented a greater disaster and fought heroically. IDF reinforcement forces arrived at a late stage, and two emergency squad members were killed in the kibbutz: Reserve Major Ido Hovera (36) and Reserve Major Ofir Erez (57); and Bernard Cohen (57) who was murdered in his home.
