Teachers Union Secretary-General Yaffa Ben-David addressed the Ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth 'People of the State' conference regarding the unexploded ordnance explosion at the northern border in which Yair Vilensky was killed, saying, "We all share in the family's heavy grief and wish a speedy recovery to the injured. The responsibility lies first and foremost with the procedures and those who make them - the Ministry of Education." Regarding the drop in academic achievements, she added: "This is first and foremost where there is a shortage of teachers and lack of training. The biggest shortage is in the Tel Aviv and Central districts. We warned, but the Treasury and Education ministries did not listen. Where there are teachers who truly studied, who were trained for their profession, the grades did not drop."
