The government is expected to approve the appointment of Res. Col. Ofir Levi to the position of deputy head of the National Security Council, replacing Gil Reich, who completed his term. Levi, 51, is an armored corps officer who was discharged with the rank of brigadier general. After his discharge, he served as an adviser in the field of border protection at Rafael. He is affiliated with the Religious Zionism party, and one of his sons serves as a parliamentary aide to Knesset Member Zvi Sukkot. The legal opinion attached to the proposal points to a significant legal difficulty in the appointment process, due to failure to fully meet the requirements for adequate representation of women. Nevertheless, the appointments committee and the legal adviser reached the conclusion that there is no legal impediment to approving the appointment.
