Austrian authorities have filed charges against former Syrian General Khaled al-Halabi for war crimes in which he was allegedly involved during dictator Bashar Assad's attempts to suppress the uprising against him. According to the New York Times report this morning, the Austrian prosecution claims that al-Halabi, 62, who is Druze, was actually an Israeli double agent while serving as an intelligence officer in the Assad regime - and that after fleeing his country to Europe, he managed to hide for years with the help of the Mossad and Austrian intelligence services.
