Police rescued a monkey that was being held illegally in a cage at the home of a resident of Berekhya near Ashkelon, in his 30s. The monkey, a green guenon, was transferred to the care of the Israeli Monkey Sanctuary, where it will receive treatment and undergo medical examinations. The suspect was arrested and questioned on suspicion of offenses related to trafficking and illegal possession of a protected wild animal, and was later released under restrictive conditions.
