After no progress on draft exemption law: Shas threatens to leave government

|
Ultra-Orthodox sources said earlier that there was no significant progress during the meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Chairman Yuli Edelstein, and ultra-Orthodox representatives, which aimed to find a solution to the coalition crisis over the military draft exemption law. This hints at a possible withdrawal of ultra-Orthodox parties from the government, and this time the implied threat appears to come from both the Lithuanian faction in United Torah Judaism (Degel HaTorah) and the Sephardic party (Shas) - not just from the Hasidic camp in United Torah Judaism (Agudat Yisrael) led by Minister Yitzhak Goldknopf.
