The White House has restricted access to Anthropic's powerful artificial intelligence model Mythos, and its consumer version Fable 5, in part due to suspicions that a group linked to China managed to gain access to the model. This was reported by the American news site Semafor citing a source involved in the details. According to the report, the Trump administration feared that Chinese access to the model could endanger U.S. national security and even allow China to attempt to copy it. Anthropic stated that the White House did not raise the issue of Chinese access with it in conversations preceding the imposition of restrictions, and that the company prohibits the use of its products from China.
