White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre said in the daily briefing that as far as the US knows, Hamas has not yet agreed to the "Witkoff proposal" for a ceasefire in the war. "To the best of my knowledge, Hamas has not yet agreed," she said, adding: "I can confirm that Special Envoy Witkoff and the President submitted a ceasefire proposal to Hamas that Israel supported, and Israel had approved the proposal before it was sent to Hamas. I can also confirm that discussions on this matter are ongoing, and we hope that a ceasefire in Gaza will be achieved so we can bring all the hostages home."
